  1. Thank you sooo much for taking the time to make a list!! :) I really appreciate it! There are several in your list that I know my oldest hasn't read yet.

My oldest(11) liked Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett and books by Gary Paulsen specifically Hatchet. Also like Hank Zipzer books by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver.

  4. I know I'm a bit behind on my blog-reading & commenting here...

My 12-y/o son has declared his all-time favorite book to be Carry On Mr Bowditch, by Jean Latham. It is a bio of Nathaniel Bowditch, sometimes called "the father of navigation", who lived in the late 1700's/ early 1800's.

He also greatly enjoys the Kingdom Series by Chuck Black and is currently reading The Dragon King Trilogy by Stephen Lawhead, one of his older sister's favorite series a few yrs back. My 9-y/o loved the Boxcar Series and also enjoys (as did her older sibs) the Trailblazer Series by Dave & Neta Jackson.

Oldest daughter (17) has loved Tolkein since age 13/14 and also enjoys classics like Ivanhoe, Count of Monte Cristo, etc.
