The first gym class was this week. It's at the YMCA and they have a free swim afterward. The kids took this class last year and loved it. We ended up taking the whole day off from regular schoolwork because I realized that morning that Christian didn't have any sneekers that fit him (he had been wearing Crocs all summer). So we ran to wall mart, came home and packed a lunch, then went to the Y. Afterward some friends came over to play.
We also took Tuesday off because one of my older sons, who got married this summer, just bought a house and he asked Isaiah and I if we could help with painting. Isaiah spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday there, it turns out he is awesome at edging!
For school this week:
Sophie:
Bible- In Genesis and The Awesome Book Bible Facts, we read about Abraham, Jacob and Esau.
Math (Time4Learning.com)- compared 3 digit numbers and learned number words.
Language Arts (Time4Learning.com)- she learned about antonyms and synonyms. Sophie also read poems from A Child's Garden of Verses. We will start copy work next week.
Read-aloud-we finished Red Sails to Capri. In the evenings I read The Secret Garden.
Art-While I'm reading aloud, Sophie has been making some wonderful drawings of scenes from the books. She got some cute girl's cookbooks from the library and decided to make her own cookbook with all the recipes being illustrated.
