Our day in pictures

I woke up early today and my husband and I had coffee and had a nice talk before the kids got up. We also read the last chapter of Mathew together. Then I made cranberry orange muffins, and while the muffins were baking I unloaded the dishwasher, threw a load of laundry in the washer and did a quick wipe down in the bathrooms.

Next, I woke up the boys (Sophie had woken up on her own) and they had breakfast and did their morning routine. I helped Sophie and Christian make their beds and get ready for the day. Then I put a post up on my blog while Isaiah played with the younger two kids and Andrew and Charles got a head start on schoolwork.

9:30-12:00
During our bible reading I like the younger kids to be with us coloring or drawing. Today they played with the magnadoodle.

After Bible, I took Christian and Sophie up to their bedroom, and the older boys had quiet study time downstairs. Christian worked on his math and phonics, while Sophie and I played roll and play, a great toddler/pre-school game. Then Sophie played with her stuffed animals while I helped Christian with his Language Lesson.

12:00-1:30
For Lunch I made bean quesadillas. They are so easy and yummy. On one half of a medium sized flour tortilla I spread on refried beans, then I add salsa and cheese. Next fold over the tortilla and put a few pats of butter on both sizes, then fry them in a pan.

The boys quickly cleaned up the kitchen, then they had free time. They played keyboard, drew pictures and played solitaire on the computer. Christian and I read about South America and he traced a map and labled it. He read the Busy Times Pathway Reader to me and was very excited that he finished the book.
1:30-2:30
We had a great family nature walk. We haven't taken one in a long time, mostly because of all the snow we've had. I've been reading Karen Andreola's A Pocketful of Pinecones, Nature Study with the Gentle Art of Learning and I'm excited to do more nature Study with the kids. I'm going to start a nature notebook myself.

2:20-5:00
After our walk, the older 3 boys had some schoolwork to finish. What a blessing it is that Andrew can help Charles with Algebra. I played with Sophie for a while, then I corrected school papers.
After everyone's school was finished, the boys played video games. Usually, the boys only play their game system on Friday night and on the week-end, but they got a new game on Sunday so, I've been letting them play after school. Sophie played Jumpstart pre-school on the computer.

I made Chicken Enchiladas for dinner and Andrew made butterscotch brownies for desert-both were big hits! We all helped with dinner clean-up, and after we played ping-pong.

Christian is reading Sophie and I a bedtime story. After the kids are in bed, I get to read my book. That was our day!

  1. Aw! So sweet. Funny how those free times can make boys move much faster with their chores, isn't it? LOL Sounds like my home. Thanks for sharing your day. :-)
