Prayer

So many times I live with something and I don't even think to pray!  There have been amazing moments when God inspires me to pray because he wants to give me something.  Here are some examples of immediate answered prayer.

Drums

When my son Charles was 8 years old he started taking drum lessons.  My husband had built a basic  electronic drum that he could practice on, and that was wonderful, but I really wanted Charles to have an acoustic drum set.  We had just started going to a new church and after the service I felt inspired to go up to the front to pray, I wasn't even thinking about it, but out of my mouth I blurted, "Lord, please give Charles a drum set." Then I walked downstairs to where there was coffee and snacks.  I walked up to a few people talking.  They were saying,  "What are we going to do with that extra drum set in the closet?" I said, "I'll take it!"  So, before I left they loaded it in my van!  Charles was blessed!

Clothes

When all the kids were young I didn't  buy clothes for myself very often. I felt that the money could always be spent on something else.  One day I asked God for new clothes.  A couple weeks later a friend, who had cleaned out her closets, gave me a number of nice designer jeans.  I thought that was the answer to my prayer.  A couple weeks after that, I was going to a homeschooling convention with some friends to help them with their booth.  About an hour before leaving one friend asked if I had a skirt to wear at the convention, I told her I didn't.  She took me to an expensive boutique.  She asked me to pick out a few things to try on.   While in the dressing room, she kept giving me more and more outfits to try on.   I left the store with a number of sweaters, pants, skirts, dresses, T-shirts, blouses, and jewelry-a whole new wardrobe! I never mentioned my prayer for clothes to anyone. God just wanted to bless me more that I could imagine.

Friends

When we moved a couple years ago there were a number of kids in the neighborhood. After a year of being here Sophie hadn't really clicked with any of the girls.  One day while I was walking out to the dumpster I looked up to heaven and I asked God to please send Sophie a friend.  Three days later I was folding laundry and I asked the Lord to send me a friend who I could share his goodness with that day.  Then I picked up my laundry and walked across the parking lot to the laundry room. A van pulled up, it was a new family that every time I saw them I thought, "I need to get to know them!".   I decided to introduce myself, and Valery and I hit it off right away! She noticed that my necklace said Faith, Hope, and Love and she asked me if I was a Christian.  It turned out that we have a lot in common, and we have been good friends ever since.  She has two kids that are my kid's ages, and they became fast friends.  God is so good!
