Our Day 11/1/10

7:00-10:00 I woke up at 7:00 today and everyone was either already up, or waking up.  Isaiah needed to finish his homework for his writing class today, and Andrew had a college assignment to work on.  While they were working, I snuggled on the couch with Sophie and Christian played with our cats (he loves cats!).  

Everyone made their own breakfast, then got ready for the day.  I had to fill out some paperwork that I've been putting off.  While I did that, my husband did some water color painting with Sophie.  I enjoyed sitting next to them listening to them chat and paint together.  Christian wrote a short story with an old computer CD he found recently called Storybook Weaver. 

Then Sophie and Christian went off to play for a while, I looked at a couple blogs and checked my e-mail. Then I  did the dishes, and cleaned up the dining room and  living room.  I've had to get used to the fact that my older sons aren't able to help me very much with the cleaning like they used because of their busy schedules. We had a teen party here last night, but the clean-up wasn't bad at all really.

10:00-1:00 Andrew dropped Isaiah off at his writing class, then went to the college to work on a project with a few other students.  I made homemade bread and  peanut butter cookies.  Sophie did her phonics and math workbooks at the island while I was baking. Christian did his math on the computer, then did his critical thinking workbook.  We had lunch, then Christian and Sophie colored while I got ready for world history class.

 Mondays are a different day for us because Isaiah has writing class in the morning, then I teach world history/geography class to Isaiah and his friend here in the afternoon. Charles is usually here on Mondays, but he's been in California on vacation with his girlfriend's family for 2 weeks (lucky him!).  Charles is a senior and works 3 days a week and does his homeschooling on 2 days (plus nights and week-ends if needed). I don't do any extras with Sophie and Christian on Mondays.

1:00-4:00 Andrew picked up Isaiah and his friend kyle.  The boys ate when they get here and hung out for a little while. During class time we read and discussed a chapter from Streams of Civilization then they answered some questions.  For the rest of the class the boys did geography research.  Sophie and Christian played outside for while, they came back in soon after to play inside because it was so cold!  Andrew did  more homework then taught a guitar lesson.

4:00-7:00 Christian came down with a fever and a stomach ache, so he rested on the couch. I did Sophie's reading lesson with her, then Sophie had a turn on Storybook Weaver.  After a while, Sophie hung out with Daddy while I went to the library by myself -very unusual. After Andrew gave another guitar lesson, he dropped Isaiah off at youth group, then he headed to his writer's group. We had Mac & cheese w/ham for dinner.

7:00-Bedtime Thankfully, Christian was feeling much better so my husband and I played go fish with him and Sophie. It was a fun time! It's so cute the way Sophie and Christian pretend to real in a fish when they have to draw from the pile. The younger kids went to bed early and easily tonight. Youth group went late tonight because they are working on a Christmas play.  Andrew picked up Isaiah after his writers group. What a blessings to have older teens who drive who don't mind picking up (and dropping off) their younger siblings!

It was a good day! Before bed I read The Gift of an Ordinary day: A Mother's Memoir by Katrina Kenison.
